BISHOP ODEDEJI IS ENTHRONED AS LAGOS WEST BISHOP

BISHOP ODEDEJI IS ENTHRONED

The journey to enthronement since the consecration of the Rt. Revd. Olusola James Odedeji on Sunday February 24, 2013 ended on Sunday April 28, 2013. The Rt Revd Dr Olusola James Odedeji is fully enthroned as the second Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West.

The Archbishop of the Eccleclestical Province of Lagos, the Most Revd Prof. Bayo Akinde presided over the Enthronement Service. In attendance, there were 39 Bishops (including Archbishops) of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency, Mrs Adejoke Adefulire and her counterpart from Osun State, Otunba Titilayo Tomori, where the new Bishop hails from, Legal Luminaries across Lagos Dioceses, Priests and their wives in their number and eminent laity of our Diocese. The Church auditorium was packed to the fullest capacity. The procession of the Cathedral Choir, the priests, the Archdeacons and the Bishops was similar to what John the Beloved recorded in the book of Revelation of the Holy Bible. Heaven will indeed be great when we get there. The presence of Boys and Girls Brigades and the Diocesan Guild of Stewards also added colour to the occasion. The outer chancel was full of journalists from different media houses in the country. It was indeed a memorable day.

After the procession, the Canon Residentiary of the Cathedral, the Revd Canon Adeola Abraham-Odumuyiwa performed the enthronement rites along with the Archbishop of Lagos Province. Bishop Odedeji requested to enter the Cathedral and he was granted by the Canon Residentiary. The service was very colourful. One cannot over-emphasize rich heritage of Anglicans that our faith fathers delivered unto us. All glory to God.

The Rt Revd James Olusola Adebiyi delivered his manifesto to the Diocese during his sermon. He said God has sent him for spiritual restoration of both house of clergy and laity. I must confess here that the whole house of Clergy needs spiritual overhauling. He spoke against syncretism, laziness and immorality among the clergy. He further said that everybody must be heaven conscious and ready to uphold holiness and righteousness without which no man will see the Lord.

The service ended with thanksgiving and benediction by the Archbishop of Lagos.
