ABEL AJIBODU AND TWO OTHERS CONSECRATED BISHOPS
One cannot over emphasized the electrifying atmosphere of the Service of Consecration of Bishops and Presentation of Archbishop and Dean of the Church of Nigeria held on Sunday July 24, 2016 at the Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos by the Most Revd Nicholas Okoh, the Primate of All Nigeria, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion). The Rt Revd Abel Oluyemi Ajibodu and other two Bishops were consecrated Bishops. Bishop Ajibodu was consecrated Bishop of the Diocese of Ile Oluji while the other two Bishops consecrated along with him are the Rt Revd Akinpelu Colenso Johnson and the Rt Revd Prof. Okoli, for Dioceses of Lagos Mainland and Ihiala respectively. Prior the consecration, the new Bishop of Ile Oluji is the incumbent Dean of the Cathedral where the consecration took place.
For now he will serve as Bishop Co-Adjuctor with the Rt Revd Samson Adekunle, the incumbent Bishop of Ile Oluji Diocese, who will be retiring from Priesthood and Episcopacy due to compulsory seventy years age of retirement.
In the sermon delivered by the Most Revd Dr Ikechi Nwosu, the Archbishop of Aba Province and Bishop of Umuahia Diocese, who also was presented in the same Service as the Dean of Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), encouraged the new Bishops that anytime they are alone, they should always go on their knees to pray because the Lord has promised in His Word that whatever they ask in His name, He will do it. The new Dean also encouraged them to be faithful in discharging their duties to God.
The service was well attended from various parts of the country especially the home Dioceses and the Dioceses of the new Bishops. The atmosphere looked very colourful and beautiful. We pray that the Lord will bless the episcopacy of the new Bishops particularly, the Bishop Adjuctor of the Diocese of Ile Oluji.
We also congratulate the Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West, the Rt Revd Dr. James Olusola Odedeji for the elevation of his Dean as Bishop.
